Al-Walaa and Al-Baraa ‘, and spreading hatred

Hate speech cannot establish a human society dominated by mercy and compassion and it is impossible for the Messenger – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – sent by his Lord to be a mercy to the worlds; to call for hatred and hostility. It is stated clearly and obviously in the Holy Qur’an in Allah’s saying (And we have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds). (Al-Anbiya ‘/ 107) No one is excluded as Muhammad is a mercy for all creatures. including human beings, jinn, animals, birds, That is why the message of Islam is universal, and our Lord addressed him (Muhammd) saying: “O my Lord! these are people who don’t believe so turn aside from them and say “peace”. But they are going to know” (Al-Zukhruf / 88-89) Even though they do not believe, but Muhammad- may God bless him and grant him peace – asked forgiveness for them and the good saying.
The concept of loyalty and innocence among those acclaiming it :()
Loyalty: It is the love of God, his Messenger, the companions, and the believers and supporting (acknowledging) them.
Al-Bara ‘: It is hatred for the polytheists, the hypocrites, the creators and the immoral who go against God, his Messenger, the Companions and the believers, So, I said that, this matter is related to the heart; because the heart is where love and hatred lie and that doesn’t go beyond doing or behavior.
The status of loyalty and disavowal for them: It is one of the pillars of faith, and part of the meaning of the testimony, which is the saying: (There is no god) from (there is no god but God) because its meaning is the disavowal from all that is worshiped besides God, So for them it is a condition of faith, as the Almighty said. “You see many of them becoming allies of those who disbelieved. How wretched is that which they have put forth for themselves in that Allah has become angry with them and in the punishment they will abide eternally. And if they had believed in Allah and the prophet and in what was revealed to him; they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them are defiantly disobedient.” (Al-Ma’idah 80). And this doctrine is the closest to faith.
In the chain of narration, Ahmad, on the authority of Al-Baraa bin Azeb – may God be pleased with him – narrated: the Messenger of God – peace be upon him- said: (The bond of faith is love for the sake of God and hatred for the sake of God.) In the authentic hadith: (He who loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the
sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah and holds for the sake of Allah has completed his faith) [narrated by Abu Dawud]. They also have a reason to taste the sweetness of faith and the pleasure of certainty. The prophet – peace be upon him – said: “Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith: The one to whom Allah and His Apostle become dearer than anything else. who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah’s sake, who hates to revert (return) to disbelief (Atheism) after Allah has saved him out from it, just as he hates to be thrown into the fire.” [Agreed upon].
For them, the foundation (connection) on which the Muslim community is based (the believers are but brothers) (Al-Hujurat 10/10), and by achieving it the mandate of God is attained, When Ibn Abbas – may God be pleased with them both – narrated: (He who loves for the sake of in God and hates for the sake of God, and he who allies for the sake of God and hostiles for the sake of God, then you will attain the mandate of God by that.) In case of not fulfilling (accomplishing) this doctrine, they may encounter disbelief. The Almighty said: “And whoever is an ally to them among you- then indeed, he is one of them” (Al-Ma’idah / 51)
And consider some of their sayings that spread (root) hatred; Sheikh Hamad bin Ateeq – may God have mercy on him – says: (As for opposing the infidels and the polytheists, know that God Almighty has enjoined and affirmed its necessity and forbade allying to them gravely, Moreover, there is no more obvious and clearer evidence in the Holy Qur’an than this rule that comes after the necessity (obligation) of monotheism and the prohibition of its opposite.
And Ibn Taymiyyah said: (To complete the testimony; that there is no god but God requires that one loves nothing but for God’s sake, and hates only for God’s sake, to be friendly but for the sake of Allah, to be hostile but for God’s sake. and to love What God loves and hate what God hates) He also added that: “Whoever believes that churches are the homes of God, and that God is worshiped in them, and that what Jews and Christians do is worship to God and obedience to Him and His Messenger, or that God loves that or it pleases Him. And whoever assists them to open them (churches) and perform their religion, and whoever believes that it means obedience or being closer to Allah is an infidel, He also said in another context: “Whoever believes that visiting the non-Muslims (Ahl el thema) in their churches in order to be closer to God, becomes an apostate.” Then if you contemplate the great catastrophe in interpreting the rules of allying to the infidels: imitating them in clothing and speaking – residing in their country and not moving to Muslim countries for the sake of religion. Traveling to their countries for entertainment and pleasure, taking them as supporters and advisors and writing down (copying) their dates, especially the date that expresses their rituals and feasts, such as the Gregorian date.
Naming ourselves by (after) their names, sharing them their (ceremonies) festivals, helping them establish (perform) them, congratulating them on these occasions, or attending them- praising or acknowledging being (how they are) urbanized and civilized\ their urbanization and civilization, and admiring their morals and skills regardless their false beliefs and corrupted religion. Or asking for forgiveness for them or having mercy on them. As you can see, it is a call for hatred, and isolating Muslims from the world, for dealing with Ahl elThema (non-Muslims) is out of question, a matter that cannot be done without in life, and the reality of those who call for this contradicts what they have mentioned, because they use all the products of non-Muslims, including clothing, medicine, cars and airplanes, and travel to their countries. Moreover, they have traced (inferred) partial (uncompleted) evidence from Qur’an that wasted other verses which guide us all by considering (looking at) them to a right understanding. “There has already been for you an excellent example in Abrahanm and those with him. When they said to their people “indeed we are dissociated from you from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity and hatred for ever,-“(Al Mumtahina 4)
“And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the Great pilgrimage that Allah is dissociated from the disbelievers and so is His Messenger.” (Atawbah 3)
“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are (in fact) allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you, and then indeed he is one of them. Indeed Allah guides not the wrongdoing people. So you see those in whose hearts disease hastening into them, saying “we are afraid a misfortune may strike us. But perhaps Allah will bring conquest or a decision from him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful. (/Al-Ma’idah 51-52)
“O you who have believed, Don not take My enemies and your enemies as allies extending affection to them.” (Al Mumtahinah / 1)
“Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself…” ((Al Imran / 28)

‘O you, who have believed do not take as intimates those other than yourselves. For they will not spare you any ruin. They wish you would have hardship. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their hearts (chests) conceal is greater.” (Al-Imran / 118)
(“O you, who have believed, do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies. If they have preferred disbelief over belief , and whoever does so among you then it is those who are the wrongdoers ”(al-Tawbah 23)
Thus, it is clear that the prohibition is restricted, not absolute. “You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers, or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those- He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him, and we will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleaded with Him- those are the party of Allah. Unquestionably the party of Allah- they are the successful.” (Al Mujadala 22) “

It is obvious and clear to those with eyes that the prohibition is restricted to opposing God and His Messenger and being an enemy to Them and not in general.

The right understanding of the issue: None of the righteous predecessors nor of the four Imams considered loyalty and Barr’a to be among the pillars of faith, or the pillars of Islam, And the majority (masses) of the nation’s scholars agreed that the pillars of faith and Islam as narrated in the authentic hadith: On the authority of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, he said: “While we were with The Messenger of God- peace be upon him- when a man in a very white clothing and with very black hair, came to us, no traces (effect) of travel is visible on him, and no one recognized him until he sat down close by the Prophet( peace be upon him) ,resting his knees against the knees of the prophet and put his palms on his thighs and said, “Muhammad, tell me about Islam?” The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, said: “the profession of faith (shahada) that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, perform prayer, pay zakat, fast Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the house if you afford it”. The man replied “You have spoken the truth”. We were surprised at his questioning him and then declaring that he spoke the truth (rightly). Then the man asked “Tell me about faith?” The prophet replied, “That you believe in God, his angels, his books, and his messengers, and the Last Day, and believe in fate, both good and evil.” The man said: “You are right. (You have spoken the truth (rightly))” Then asked, “Now tell me about charity?” The prophet replied, “To worship God as if you see Him. If you do not see Him, then He sees you.” Then the man asked, “Tell me about the Hour?” “The one who is asked about it is no better informed than the one who is asking. He said: Then tell me about its signs. He replied: “when a maidservant gives birth to her mistress, and to see the barefooted, naked, poor men and shepherds exalting themselves in buildings.( That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute herdsman competing in constructing lofty buildings). ‘Umar said: He then went away, and I waited for a while then I asked: “Do you know who the questioner was, Umar?” I replied: Allah and his Messenger know best. He said: “He was Gabriel who came to teach you your religion”.
The hadith is clear and explicit in defining the pillars of Islam and faith. Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ash’ari said: “Faith is believing in heavens, and as for saying with the tongue and performing the pillars, are its branches. So whoever believes sincerely from the heart, acknowledges the oneness of God Almighty, and believes in what is revealed to the Messengers from Allah. thus he completes his faith, Even if he dies immediately, he is a true believer, So he will not covert from his faith unless he denies any of these.
Al-Baqlani said: “And to know that belief in God – the Almighty – is believing by the heart. () There is no such thing in monotheism as the doctrine of loyalty and disavowal, as it is one of the heart actions that are manifested by the doctrine of faith, and the behavioral indications of loyalty is approving and supporting, while the behavioral indications of al-Baraa is antagonism and lack of support. Moreover, the indications (manifestations) loyalty and Bara’a are mainly an act of the heart. Which is one of the effects (impacts\ results\ signs) of the doctrine of faith, For the believer who believes in God, his messengers, his books, and his angels, and the Last Day, and fate whether good or bad, that faith blooms in his heart love, loyalty, inclination and support for all believers in the truth, It also blooms in his heart a disavowal to all the beliefs and ideas that contradict what he believes in. In addition, the behavioral implications of loyalty is approval and support, and the behavioral manifestation of Barr’a is hostility and non-support, and the manifestations of loyalty and innocence are evident when those who deny your doctrine, your faith and your identity, decide to oppress you and fight your homeland, Consequently, loyalty requires supporting your country, your people and your identity, and disavowal to the enemy who wants to destroy your identity, your security and your homeland. Therefore, loyalty and disavowal must always be evoked in the system of coexistence of a Muslim with others, so a Muslim must belong to Islam and maintain his Islamic identity without violating the principle of peaceful coexistence between people and this is loyalty, and Barr’a , which is for a Muslim to keep his beliefs not confused with (aloof from) suspicions that might inflict it, and the like without encountering (engaging into ) atonement or assaulting an infallible soul. The lack of loyalty to non-Muslims like citizens and others who are not at war with Muslims by being hostile to them and causing \ (doing) them (harm) \ damage, is against the stated texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Muslim is enjoined to say the goodness to all people without differentiation. Allah, the Almighty said: “Say(speak) good words to people [Al-Baqarah: 83], and the Almighty said:“ Indeed, God commands justice and kindness ”[An-Nahl: 90], just as God has not forbidden us from the righteousness of non-Muslims and being close to them, introducing them presents and accepting presents from them, beside other ways that show righteousness to them.
Allah said ”Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes, from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act jusly.” (Mumtahinah: 8)
The main argument for those who call themselves Salafi, is related to the definition of faith which means to believe by the heart, , saying with the tongue and acting with limbs. Faith increases by obedience and decreases by disobedience. The Almighty said: (And those who believe increase in faith …) and from here they disbelieve every sinner, and their origin is the Kharijites.
Second: Correct understanding of the verses that they cited as evidence: The Almighty’s saying “O you who have believed, Don not take My enemies and your enemies as allies extending affection to them while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth. Having driven out the prophet and yourselves only because you believe in Allah, your Lord …) (Al-Muhtatahanah / 1)
It is better to be guided to understand the reason for the revelation of the verse, this verse was revealed in the case of the companion Hatib bin Abi Belatah, who wrote secretly to the enemies in Makkah informing them that the Messenger, may God Almighty bless him and grant him peace, was preparing for fighting them, and the Almighty revealed his command to the Messenger – may God bless him and grant him peace – so they arrested the woman carrying the message to the people of Makkah, the enemies of the Messenger – may God bless him and grant him peace – and the enemies of the state, and the verse was revealed prohibiting taking the enemies as allies (guardians). and this is a natural matter that no one can object to. Because it is consistent with human nature, and the natural relationship of people to one another, and with all peoples, and even in our time, whoever follows the enemy during war and transmits (reveals) war secrets, commits a great crime. The reason for the revelation that we have summarized in all the books of the Imams of Tafsir and the books of As-Sahih and Sunan () is also necessary to be careful to understand the context of the verse of the surah. “They despair of the Hereafter just as the infidels despaired of the owners of the graves.) (Al-Mumtahinah / 13) and the Surah intercede by saying – Almighty – “Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes, from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act jusly. Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion, forbids that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, for those are the oppressors”. ” (Al-Mumtahina 9/8) This context that regulates the relationship of a Muslim to others has made it necessary for peace and war to forbid loyalty to be the state of war, and that righteousness and installments are the state of peace. And he says (O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians, some parents of some of you, it turns them that God does not guide the unjust people you see those in whose hearts is a disease hasten them say we fear that it strikes the circle deeds of God to come Bafatth or ordered from him Faisbhawwa on what They confided in themselves with regret. ”(Al-Ma’idah / 15-52) This verse was revealed in Abu Lababa and Al-Sadi said: It was revealed on a Sunday when the Muslims feared even some of them would be loyal to the Jews and the Christians, and it was said: It was revealed in the worship of Ibn al-Samit and Abdullah bin Abi bin Salul, and he was disavowed A worship of loyalty to the Jews and adhered to by Ibn Abi and he said: I fear that the circles will revolve () and it becomes clear from this that the verse was revealed in the war, and an obvious order is that it is not permissible to seek the help of the enemies and their loyalties in wars, and we are not protesting in that by saying: The lesson is in the general terms not regarding the reason, because we are We say the meaning of the verse about the impermissibility of continuity during wars, for what will come after that of the verses that call for righteousness with them and installments for them unless there is a war between us And between them. And His words – Almighty – “Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself…” (Al Imran / 28) The prohibition here is also a restricted prohibition (without the believers), that is: It is not permissible to take a non-Muslim guardian with the presence of an efficient Muslim. Also, it is not permissible to understand these verses apart from other verses; otherwise the Qur’an is contradictory, Moreover, the Holy Qur’an, in many verses, has invited us to be righteous to those who disagree (contradict) with us. Therefore, Islam’s call is based on tolerance and mercy. Here is an explanation: Islam called for righteousness for human beings except for those who are apparently hostile to us (or who show their apparent antagonism to us) as it is mentioned in the two verses of Al Mumtahina (9, 8). The Qur’an indicated that the Messenger of God – peace be upon him – came for peace, not war, and that the pillar of Islam’s message of mercy is for all humanity, and this is clearly evident in His words describing His Messenger defining the purpose of his message “We have only sent you but a mercy to the worlds. ”(Al-Anbiya’s / 107) Islam is capable of confronting violence and extremism, as it cares about public peace, and calls for arguing with Ahl Al Kitab with mercy. He calls for not stirring up (arousing) envy and hatred. The Almighty said:
‘”Do not insult those who invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.” (Al-An’am / 108) He also calls for good neighborliness and not to initiate evil. Islam does not bear hostility to other faiths, it condemns violence and terrorism, Because all people are created by God from one soul, and the diversity (difference) in beliefs is the nature of human beings, Beliefs are to be followed and not bought, and there is no compulsion on beliefs, and diversity does not prevent cooperation or acquaintance. ()
